NILIT® Announces Nylon Yarn Price Increase

Terms the adjustment essential, due to a continued and sharp rise in raw material costs

Migdal Ha'emek, Israel - June 19, 2006 - NILIT® Ltd., a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of nylon 6.6, today announced a price increase at all of the company's production sites around the world.

The price increase will vary by product, application, region and currency, with an average of 5%-7% including yarns for intimate apparel, activewear,
sportswear, legwear and bodywear.
The increase will take effect July 1, 2006.

The company explained that the price increase was necessary
because of a number of factors:

  • the dramatic rise in the price of raw materials
  • disruptions in the supply of adipic acid, one of raw materials
    for nylon 66
  • the dramatic rise in the cost of energy
"After a great deal of consideration and deliberation, we have no alternative but to increase our prices for nylon yarns on a worldwide basis. This is essential in light of the increases in our costs and to contribute to the long-term health of the nylon business," said Fabio Kahn, the Company's Director of the Fibers Division.

In a letter sent earlier last week, NILIT® informed its customers around the world of the price increase. The letter pointed out that the worldwide nylon yarn industry has been affected not just by the dramatic increase in the price of raw materials but by lower selling prices and reduced margins.
In the letter, NILIT® Fiber Division Director Fabio Kahn, wrote: "We at NILIT® continue to support the creation of new business opportunities for our customers while delivering high quality and value. We will invest time and resources toward achieving greater efficiency and reducing costs."
